Amanda Pellatt

Art and Ecology artist Amanda Pellatt has mapped the terrain of Dartmoor through a series of paintings that will go on display at the Duchy Square Centre for Creativity in Princetown.

Entitled ‘From Above the Watershed’ (15 May –27th June) each of the paintings are an individual interpretation of particular aspects of the Dartmoor landscape throughout the seasons.

The works were inspired by Amanda’s passion for the contemporary field of art and ecologies in which she helps communities living on Dartmoor to experience their surroundings in a completely different way.

As a painter and social arts practitioner, Amanda regularly stages walks in the River Erme Valley for members of the public who want to experience and connect with the environment around their homes to re-discover the areas from an artistic and ecological perspective.

“My intention is to find new ways for people to re-engage with their local environment and rediscover a sense of place, with arts acting as a catalyst,” said Amanda.

Last year she organised a whole host of activities for around 100 children at Erme Primary School, as part of a social arts practice initiative focussed on the River Erme Valley.
